Dog training class (2005/01/23)
I went to the event held at Koganei Park.
Lily plays innocently, unaware that this person is her trainer.
Explanation by the trainer
Lily can stay still even when photographed from a distance.
I learned the "stay" command at Lily's obedience class.
What surprised me the most was being told that it's okay to use snacks a lot when teaching.
This is a real eye-opener for Lily, as she's been trying to avoid giving treats as much as possible.

Like Robin, Lily can also use "Mate" to control the camera's distance.
I was able to do it in front of the teacher yesterday as well. But I was told that what I did afterwards was wrong.
If the dog stays still, someone always approaches it and gives it a reward.
Indeed, he always called the camera over after filming. He said this wasn't practice for waiting, but practice for using the camera.

It seems that many Japanese people are resistant to the idea of using rewards in training.
I wonder if it's a base or despicable thing to think. But apparently, in Europe and America, fewer people think that way, and as a result, things tend to go in a positive direction.
However, it seems that you only need to feed them a small amount at a time.
For example, Lily was being given one baby biscuit, but apparently that's too much.
Apparently, dogs don't have a satiety center. So, you give them jerky cut into pieces a few millimeters long each time they eat.
For dogs, it's not the quantity that matters, but rather the number of times they receive treats that makes them happier.

Finally, we asked about their daily intake and calorie intake.
If Lily eats 100g a day, the owner should manage her diet by reducing her main food portion to 90g and the treats she uses for training to 10g.
Even though I was told to do so, it's actually difficult, which is why I haven't used snacks until now, but this class was very helpful.
