I also gained some unexpected insights from accompanying Lily to her meals. I was holding one pellet, having the bird sit down, and throwing it. Even when I threw it quite far, it would find it by sound. So I tried giving it the "Wait" command and rolling the pellet. It would stay sitting down, with only its face turned towards the pellet, but wouldn't move. Then I would say "Go," and it would fly off. Gradually, I was able to increase the distance I rolled the pellet, and it would wait patiently. I was able to do this starting yesterday! Isn't that amazing
Also, while I was throwing a ball around the room, it accidentally landed in a box. At first, he looked around confusedly, but the look on his face when he peered into the box, found the ball, and picked it up was so happy. After that, I added more locations like the sofa, and he was able to find the ball again. | |
